Each of these uses one: - Reading the ingredients in a photo of your fridge, pantry or a receipt - Turning those ingredients into recipes - Snapping a finished dish to get its recipe - Importing a recipe from a link, a photo or pasted text So a full fridge photo to recipes run uses 2 scans. Asking for recipes from a craving or from your ingredient list uses 1, and loading more recipes for the same ingredients uses another.

Yes. You get 4 scans every month, and the rest of the app is not paywalled. Your cookbook, meal planner, shopping lists, ratings and sharing are all included.
