Pantry Pic, a new smart cooking app that turns real photos of your fridge or pantry into personalised recipes, has officially launched. Built to help households reduce food waste and save money by making meals based on ingredients on hand before they go to waste.

Using advanced ingredient recognition, Pantry Pic identifies what’s in a user’s kitchen and generates tailored recipes matched to dietary preferences and cooking experience. The app also prevents unnecessary grocery spending by helping people use what they already own before buying more.

Meal planning is effortless with with Pantry Pic’s simple weekly planner, allowing users to plan their meals for the week within minutes using ingredients they have on hand. This feature is particularly beneficial for busy households trying to stay organised without daily “what’s for dinner?” stress.

“Pantry Pic started as a personal frustration — staring into the fridge full of ingredients but no idea what to cook” said Dylan Westbury, Founder of Pantry Pic. “I wanted to build something that helps families save money, reduce waste and prepare meals effortlessly. Pantry Pic removes the guesswork so cooking becomes enjoyable again.”

Food waste is a growing problem, with the average household throwing away around $100 US worth of unused or expired ingredients every month. Globally, food wste contributes to 8–10% of greenhouse gas emissions, making it both a financial and environmental issue.

To mark the launch, Pantry Pic is introducing the “Clean Your Cupboard Challenge” — encouraging users to clear out forgotten ingredients by cooking with what they already have. The company is also offering a limited early-access lifetime deal, giving early adopters permanent access to the full feature set at a one-time price.

With cost-of-living pressures rising, early Pantry Pic users say the app has helped them stretch their weekly budget further by using ingredients they would have otherwise forgotten. The shift from “What should I buy?” to “What can I cook with what I’ve got?” empowers families to get more value from every shop and reduce unnecessary purchases.
